Fresh tomatoes, basil, and oregano set this sauce apart from store bought bottled sauces.

|1||1cup diced onions|
|1||1cup diced red bell peppers|
|2||2Tbsp. minced fresh garlic|
|1⁄4||1/4cup olive oil|
|4||4cups diced fresh tomatoes|
|1⁄2||1/2tsp. red pepper flakes|
|Salt and black pepper to taste|
|1⁄4||1/4cup each chopped fresh basil and oregano|
Sauté onions, bell peppers, and garlic in oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat until onions and peppers begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, sugar, and pepper flakes; season with salt and black pepper.
Simmer sauce over medium heat, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes. Off heat, stir in oregano and basil.
